Hopefully people read this right and don’t downvote the hell out of me, but I think people who sleep with their phone on silent are insane. Now hear me out, since I first got a mobile phone I always told people not to call me unannounced unless it’s an actual emergency, and most of the time people have been respectful of that for me, and send a simple “call?” message first before actually calling. I will never silence my phone overnight again or even debate it after one night at around 12am midnight I was woken up by a phone call from a hospital calling to say I was the only person who they could reach at that time, and that two of my best friends for years have been in a critical car accident, which later ended in both their deaths at that hospital days later. They were college age and just after at that time, had so much going for them, and happened to be at the wrong place wrong time when a drunk in a raised pickup truck ran them off the road down a small hill, leading the call to a tumble. The driver drove off and another driver didn’t find them for 20 minutes, while they were both stuck in that car and couldn’t help themselves. I’m getting a bit off topic and emotional at the same time, but the point is, I would hate myself forever if I didn’t see that phone call overnight. There were four emergency contacts listed on her phone and 3 ignored until the morning. His phone had none listed.
