Melvin Carter says St. Paul trash-collection system will continue

Its because its takes away a persons ability to negotiate their own bills. It takes power out of the residents hands and puts it in the government. If you have issues with your hauler, you have 0 recourse. You cant switch companies, you just have to deal with the bad hauler. Price too high, tough you cant switch companies or call to negotiate a lower rate.

Im not in st paul but a surrounding city that did this 2 years ago. My neighbors and I all hate it. We have constant issues with our trash hauler, and our bills all went up 2 to 3 times what we were paying. On top of it the city council just voted to raise the rates which was against the built in ordinance of no rate increases for the first 3 years which was part of this whole thing. I personally was paying $12 a month plus $60 a year for yard waste, and now i pay $35 a month with $80 yard waste and theres not a damn thing i can do about it other then move to a different city.
