Missouri now at 1581 confirmed cases and still no statewide stay at home order.

I’m currently a student at the university of Missouri in Columbia.

I’ve decided to stay in Columbia despite classes being online for a few personal reasons. I can speak to the situation in Columbia (120,000 population). I have been out a few times in the last few weeks, just to the grocery stores, one time out for a drive, and once to the auto parts store. The grocery stores are empty in terms of shoppers. The shelves are mostly full with the exception of meats and bread. The auto parts store that I went to had tape on the ground around the check out area designating a 6’ buffer, but no one was following it at all, one person tried to squeeze between me and a basket on the sales floor, before I made space for them. It seems like because it hasn’t hit here hard yet no one is taking it seriously. Last week our power went out so my room mate and I went for a drive around midnight and the town was a compete ghost town. More so than usual. We saw maybe 10 cars in about 2 hours. I know it’s late any not many people would be out but usually, but it was certainly eerie, even by normal standards.
