Most children who think they’re transgender are just going through a ‘phase’, says NHS

Few people know that I thought I was a lesbian when I was 13/14. I also wasn’t having sex with anyone at that age anyway. I am now around 40 and I’m not a lesbian at all.

That was back in the day when people would assume you were straight unless you came out, so my family and most friends didn’t know it at the time (even if they suspected based on how I dressed, my music, etc.).

I feel like it may have helped me out when I realized I wasn’t actually a lesbian that no one had asked me about it and that I didn’t come out. I can’t imagine if I had come out of the closet and then had to publicly go back into it. No one knew, so it was a phase I could just pretend never happened.
