As much as I like Bloodborne, I can't help but feel let down by it.

Nothing suggests that anything but Patches was transformed by the great ones (Amygdala, specifically). Rom is only mentioned by Micolash, and your proof that it was done by a great one doesn't really work.

You ignore the latter part of his dialogue:

•"As you once did for the vacuous Rom, grant us eyes, grant us eyes. Plant eyes on our brains, to cleanse our beastly idiocy." •"The grand lake of mud, hidden now, from sight." •"The cosmos, of course!" •"Let us sit about, and speak feverishly. Chatting into the wee hours of..." •"New ideas, of the higher plane!"

Now, it's possible that he sees the cosmos as the great lake of mud, but that doesn't make any sense for it is hidden from sight and would still be muddy even if revealed, making the cosmos inherently unseeable, and I doubt he would want eyes to see that. And for that matter, why can't the cosmos something that can be refered to as "you"? Wouldn't it make sense for a madman to request something from something that can grant eyes on the brain? Also, you didn't address my proof that reality grants insight.

On the topic of Rom, nothing implies she wasn't vacuous before, in fact, Micolash calling her vacuous implies that she was like that before.

Plant eyes on our brains only asks for eyes to be planted on the brain. Everything you are talking about is additional conjecture that is assumed and can't be proven either way. And, I would like to point out, we are both operating on the assumption that Micolash has insight at all. If insight = eyes on the brain, then it would make sense for him to ask for eyes.

Here's a new piece of evidence that eyes on the brain = insight, the umbilical cords directly imply that insight = eyes on the brain. They grant insight when used and are directly stated to grant eyes on the inside. Provost Willem tried to use one to do just that.

I disagree, in this series especially is the simplest answer often true. And can we tone down the insults? You were the one complaining about healthy debates on the internet and I'm trying to be polite here, but you aren't helping.
