Multicultural American Literature

Former comp lit major: it’s like pretty much any other literature class but with more emphasis on history and lesser-known writers since you’re only focusing on a small section of literature. With this topic specifically though I wouldn’t take it if you’re not ready for some wild political fights: my freshman year I took intro to literary theory and the class session on postcolonial literature ended with three people walking out and at least one dude crying. My actual postcolonial literature class sophomore year wasn’t nearly that bad but there were definitely some “can I at least leave the room before y’all do whatever you’re about to do” moments.

Basically, not a difficult class workload-wise if you’re already into literature/writing but wild shit could still happen. In any case you know your school’s political climate better than I do.
