My Biggest Concerns About Van Dwelling

1) Any problems with the police. Most likely I'm more paranoid about this than most people. I live in Hawaii and it is illegal to sleep in vehicles in public area punishable by $50 citation(it's never happened to me)

I challenge law enforcement to make the discovery that there is in deed someone sleeping in my van by making it impossible to see into it. The back and side windows I used flat black spray paint to black out the windows. Even curtains can leave cracks on the sides to shine a flashlight through and see a piece of evidence that someone is in fact "dwelling" inside. My tags are current and so is my safety sticker so without probably cause the police have no idea what Right to enter the vehicle to find out if I'm in there.

2) Extreme hot and cold weather. I don't function well in extremes. Like I said, I live in Hawaii so extreme weather isn't a concern.

3) The boredom of lying around in my van at night (in the dark). Reading with a small light under the covers might help, but I'm sure I would be anxious about the van giving off any light. Again, the spray paint windows is my cloak of darkness and I live where there is wifi all over the place and I can connect to the Internet to stream Netflix or pandora. I also use redbox and a laptop if I know I'm going to be in a wifi free zone. I also have a av/dc power inverter to charge the laptop.

4) The obvious lack of plumbing (toilet and shower). I'm a guy so code yellow is easy. I have a funnel connected to clear plastic tubing going down to underneath the van where I can piss without leaving the vehicle which would blow my cover is certain areas. Code brown is the same for me as when I live in a house since I'm always on the go between the gym and work. I always end up having to go at the gym or at work anyway, so vandwelling didn't change my habits since never in my life have i ever had the urge at night.
