My cable box is on one side of the wall and I want to move it to the other side - RCN wants to charge $100 for it - any way I can get this done cheaper?

It depends on how it's set up... If you pop off the cover of the panel, there may just be open wall behind it, or there may be some type of junction box. If it's an open hole, you may be able to see the other panel. If you do see it, it's possible to move it from the old to the new... you'd have to figure out how to disconnect the socket and attach it to the new panel. The key thing here is that once you release the socket from the panel, you don't drop it into the wall and lose it, fishing it back out may be a big hassle. It probably wouldn't hurt to pop off the cover and take a look, and once you scope it out (and take pictures), you should probably look around for a cabling sub that may be able to help you with the disconnect/reconnect (if it's at all possible).
