My little library of good Kenshi base locations: Volume 2 (read comments)

Vol. 2 Part 2

22: Shun, riverside a short way southwest of the Lost Library with its entrance almost in the river.

Desc: Unlike the previous few, this location should be great for beginners too. The main downside of Shun is that the terrain is poor for building and flat ground is very rarely available. It is possible though, so if you're okay with building like that, this location offers great amounts of iron and copper which only increase as you expand, 70% water, 100% stone and fertility if you farm right next to the river, with a traditional 100% Arid 10% Green environment for good Dustwich production. The reason I would recommend this location for absolutely everyone who can build on rocky terrain is because it's just about the safest place you can build in the game. The most dangerous thing that can wander these lands is an occasional group of Skin Spiders, and, get this, you don't get raided. There are no taxes, no raids, no extreme weather or wildlife conditions and if the HN is angry at you they can cry about it because your base is far out of their reach. This safety comes at a price however, as being out of reach of almost any attack, tax or raid ever means they are a far trading expedition away from you. This is the only downside apart from the terrain. Traders are rare, civilisation is far. The closest cities are Drifter's Last and Clownsteady, and the closest neutral city is Shark. Though this, in my opinion, is a small price to pay for salvation. Best place for a pacifist to live by far.

Traders:

-(rare)W. Hive

-Nomads

Taxes/Tributes:

-None

Raids:

-None

Dangers:

-Skin Spiders wander around

23: The Swamp Northwest corner, bordering the Border Zone.

Desc: Now I know I said I would do any more Swamp, but honestly, those 5 places I showed in the previous volume weren't amazing, they were just... alright, some even good. Now after this location I can actually safely say I don't need to revisit the Swamp, because it just has the best of the Swamp with all the added benefits from the Border Zone. As always, 50% Stone, but if you expand north a bit, you'll start building into the Border Zone where the stone is 100%. The fertility is 100% all over as always and the Swamp part of this base location has the usual 209% water. There's a lot of ore around, the floor is completely flat, and you get both 100% arid and 100% swamp environment out here. Building and expansion is easy, farming and mining is great and you can even build a proper killpool with the big pool of water. All that, and you've barely left the Border Zone. Great place to settle in the early game and stay a while.

Traders:

-W. Hive

-Nomads

Taxes/Tributes:

-Dust Bandit Demands

-Stonerats

Raids:

-(very rare)Cannibals?(needs confirmation)

-Red Sabres

Dangers:

-Red Sabres wander around

-Swamp Ninjas wander around

-!Blood Spiders wander around

-Swamp Raptor Nesting Ground

This library is a work in progress, here's a list of locations I plan to investigate, prospect and maybe add to the collection.
