I have a friend in a wheelchair who has to travel to the next station because there is no lift at ours, just a flight of thirty-six steps. We are exactly the type of people who would have a problem with the gap if it were as dangerous or difficult as you say.

Granted, we're not western suburbs baby factories taking selfies while our toddlers throw themselves off the platform. Nor are we drunks who slip off the platform. We belong to a group, the disabled, which was invoked to excuse current operations with the argument that we need that help. We do not need that help. So I'd be happy if you'd ride off on that big white horse you rode in on, white knight.
