i feel the same way but come from the opposite situation. my mom and dad were superhero parents. i had an amazing childhood. but, i don’t want kids. one of the many reasons why is because i don’t think i’d do as great a job as my parents did. i honestly don’t know how they were so on point through the years while also working full time successful jobs. i guess they just knew what they wanted and worked great as a couple to make it happen. i respect and admire that, but it doesn’t mean i want to do it as well.

they’re totally cool with the decision my husband and i made to be cf. i often tell them they did the “mic drop” of parenthood because there’s no one-upping that haha. it’s such a relief to my husband and i.

only adding my two cents because i see a lot of people here talk about not so great childhoods they had. you can also come from a great home life and still not want kids. it’s ok. whatever reason you have for not wanting them is ok!
