The FSS scan, so discovering planets using the FSS minigame gives you the full DSS scan that we used to have by flying to the planet and waiting for the "loading time".

You can get all surfaces info (including POI's) by simply discovery the planets with the FSS at the entry point of the system. The new FSS now is the mini-game with the probes. This give an additional value to the body that we didn't have before.

For example:

With the old system to fully scan an ELW you had to honk at the entry point and then fly to it to get 500k credits bonus. Now you get the 500k credits my discovering it with the FSS from the entry point. If you fly to it and you scan the planet launching the surface probe to it you get a total reward of 5 milion credits.

If you want to have a quick look if ELW and WW are there, just open the FSS after the honk and check if you have a frequency sign where ELW and WW are normally found in the horizontal spectrum band. You can also check the spectrum by moving the cursor on the signs and the FSS tells you the type of planet is that.
