I agree that there should be laws concerning animals, but you can't treat animals as persons. They're not like human beings. I'm sorry to tell you this, but there are reasons why people don't consider animals persons, like not having autonomy and being subjected to instincts all the time. They don't have the concept of abstract thinking or time or history (some people don't, but this is another topic). I agree that we should respect animals and treat them good and proper and offer them a good life, and don't abuse them. Treat them like family is a good thing also. I like animals, but i don't consider them on equal footing as humans. Just my opinion.
