Is NYC bad in terms of drugs/alcohol for teenagers? I am looking to move to Brooklyn soon and am worried for my son.

I'm not sure where to start, but I think I'd just say this: you should be more worried about NYC being bad for you than for your kid. I find kids are quite good at adapting to change, adults however tend to be a bit more set in their ways and are less adaptable.

NYC might not eat your kid, but if I was a betting man I'd bet on NYC eating you. You say you've never "lived in a big city"... well you are about to move to the biggest one in the states and it's not all glamorous like you see on television.

I don't know of many neighborhoods I would describe as "quaint" in the city.. and surely you are way the fuck off the mark when it comes to Williamsburg. By the way, do curse words offend you? Because get used to hearing them shouted all day long. Oh, and get used to smelling human piss on a daily basis and maybe seeing humans pissing or shitting in public on a semi regular basis, even in the best of neighborhoods. Sorry, got sidetracked there...

Anyway, Williamsburg is the "cool place" to be, or at least it was until it became the rich place to be. It's full of bars and clubs and concert venues and kids and adults getting high and wasted every night of the week until 4am.

Oh, and about those delis who sell alcohol and cigarettes to kids.. some of them also sell weed, and a bunch of them sell synthetics that are way fucking worse.

Welcome to the city!
