Official Discussion - Bros [SPOILERS]

I thought it was just okay, and deeply ironic that I've seen such glowing reviews from straight people.

It was also marketed in a weird way. They sold it as basically a Judd Apatow comedy, but actually the rom part was a way bigger thing than the com part, and generally more consistent (it even had several nods to classic romcoms in the movie).

I did get a smile when the single woman next to me grimaced and squirmed at "Gay guys are my jam".

Billy Eichner is a better dramatic actor and a worse comedic actor than I would have thought. Also a better singer.

Luke Macfarlane definitely gave the stronger performance.

Their first sex scene made no sense. It was shot like a straight sex scene - face to face, missionary, thrusting. I assumed that meant they weren't having anal sex, then while in bed Bobby very explicitly says they were. It was very weird.

It also felt like the thing with the hockey player was not really resolved. That was clearly part of the romcom low-point, but Bobby says he can't trust him and...we never really see any indication that he's wrong! I kept expecting Aaron to have some brief scene telling the hockey player he's not interested anymore, or even to see the hockey player at the end as part of the throuple (quadrle) or something. That part just got no closure and it kind of seems like, yeah, as soon as they get into another fight maybe Aaron will go make out with another guy like that.

The ending about kids that was supposed to be sweet was also slightly weird. It was weird to end on a really fundamental disagreement without a hint of resolution - one of the most common disagreements that cause people to ultimately break up.
