Oscars Asian Jokes Protested by Ang Lee, Asian Academy Award Winners

How many times do you need to excuse what happened that night?

I'm not making excuses and he has nothing to apologize for. He had enough time for one joke, should he have had an inner dialogue with himself that went something like, "I only have time for one joke. I better not make it racial, since I don't have time to include every race and ethnicity to make sure no one feels singled out?." The fact that it was ad-libbed is quite important because according to the complaints, Asians were 'singled out', but Cohen's performance wasn't part of the script. It's just two different comedians with two Asian-oriented jokes on the same night. And if you wanna accuse either of these two INDIVIDUALS of singling out Asians, go look at any of their work, everyone's fair game to them.

If you can really sit there and say only Asians had a problem with the Oscars this year then I will leave it at that.

I never once said that. My entire point is that they're kicking up a fuss over JOKES. Other racial issues surrounding the Oscars aren't the point, we're talking about their reaction to a JOKE. That was the entire crux of their letter to the Academy, that's the topic that I'm discussing and it's what the thread is about.

And here is fundamentally where you miss the point. When the black man makes White people the butt of the Jokes who goes up on stage and collects the awards? White people.

No, I touched on that subject multiple times, but I'll reiterate. Whether or not any Asians were in the room, or on stage, has no bearing AT ALL on whether or not the joke is suitable. The letter didn't read, 'please make sure to include our community if you're going to make jokes about us', it said, "We’d like to know how such tasteless and offensive skits could have happened and what process you have in place to preclude such unconscious or outright bias and racism toward any group in future Oscars telecasts." They don't like any racist humor at all, but they waited until it touched them personally before they voiced that opinion - NOT when he himself was in the running for an Oscar, which, if racism and exclusion really, truly bothered him, would be the time to make that stand. They, and Ang Lee specifically, are self-serving twats.

But no when it comes to the night and jokes being told it's the Asians who were being babies hmmm.

Correct, because they're the only ones who had an issue with any of the jokes...

Wait now Ang Lee is a twat for sticking up for fellow Asians?

Actually, he was sticking up for all victims of racism. He just didn't express any interest in doing so until someone made a joke about Asians at an award show.

I am interested but was all the celebs that said the oscars is too white twats too?

Is there a joke in there they got pissy about? No? Then it's apples and oranges.

I asked you the same question but you didn't answer which leads me to think if white people were being mistreated some way in your eyes you would keep your mouth shut.

You asked if I was personally being discriminated against would it bother me. I removed my response from the previous post because I didn't think it was pertinent, which it wasn't. To answer your now completely different question... do you get the impression that I'm the kind of person who keeps their mouth shut?

I read one of your comments earlier

...why?

Asians felt disrespected, so some voiced their opinion on it. It doesn't make them babies like you said.

Getting pissy over a joke makes you a baby in my book, that's all there is to it. If you think there's a racist conspiracy to keep minorities out of the Oscars then say that, don't bitch and moan about a joke that was ad-libbed by a Comedian who lied to the production staff about what he planned to do on stage.

"Asians heard a few jokes at their expensive and ran to Twitter in righteous indignation, whereas everyone else just took their lumps. That's baby behaviour".

And it stands. No groups went running to Twitter or started letter campaigns because of a joke at this year's Oscars, other than Asians.
