Will you 'please' take these Youtubers off your mental pedestal? I love TB's content as much as any other of his silent majority, but you're talking about your favorite Youtubers like they are some sort of Do-No-Wrong political figures at best and like Deities at worst. Look at your comment history in the last 24 Hours, holy shit man!
As for the actual topic on hand; as annoying as those assholes redditors were complaining about a 10 year old kid, that was just some small group of assholes... do you remember Youtube Comments? They're everywhere, and EVERYONE should know by now if you pay attention: The Assholes are a small group but they are the loudest and most noticeable, and they WANT to be noticed.
The entire thing was just some small passing moment... until TB and Gena started tweeting and writing paragraphs about all their drama. Guess what that means? Lets see... right now, TB has 457K twitter followers; that means he dragged upwards of 400K+ people into a situation most of them probably didn't even realize was happening! No one cared until he cared and shined a damn spotlight on it going; “LOOOOOOOOOOOOK! Assholes right here people! Boo these men!”
That was TB's bad.
The Butterfly Effect has never been more prominent than with Social Media and the Internet; everything is a Cause and Effect. For example: throwing over a hundred thousand people into an argument that anyone with a brainstem wasn’t paying attention to in the first place.
This drama blew up due to their poor handling of a situation. How do you handle assholes on reddit? Same way you’re supposed to anywhere; ignore them! That’s what TB said with Youtube comment assholes, why are Reddit assholes different? Don’t throw hundreds of thousands of Internet people at them! Just fucking ignore them! They go away! You want to get really nasty give them a Down-Vote and take away their imaginary internet points; but don’t give them attention! If they did that instead this entire situation wouldn’t even last the weekend, hell, not even 48 hours! No one cared until they cared.
TB and Gena, love them to death, did this to themselves.
Not the Reddit ban, I don’t care about that or what the mods want to do with their subreddit. Nor did they cause the assholes to be assholes when talking about the kid in the first-place; that’s just what assholes do. What they did to themselves was escalated it to such a level that now TB has to put out audio recordings discussing of mental health, ban any form of online criticism (but if that’s for health reasons good for him, stress is a hell of a drug), and cause A LOT more drama and hate to spin out of control and hit both the Subredddit, the Mods, and themselves. They basically drama-firebombed everyone with their twitter followers, including themselves.
I love them to death but I can’t help but cringe every time they do something like this; not the first and certainly won’t be the last.
