Parents who had a vaginal birth, what happened with the 1st twin whilst you were pushing out the 2nd?

I gave birth vaginally, and there was a 10 minute gap between Baby A and Baby B. There was a long gap because Baby B was sunny side up, so she came out slowly and very, very painfully. They were talking about do a C Section for Baby B, but I advocated for myself and asked to give it one more go.

They usually have twin moms give birth in an OR just in case, which is weird.

My babies were 6 weeks early, so they put each baby on me for a second and then they were whisked away to be checked out themselves. I think this is a fairly common practice with twins.

It's going to be different than a singleton birth, but it will be lovely in its own right. With my non preterm singleton, she came out in three pushes and started breastfeeding right away. But my twin experience was quite different.

I didn't actually get the twins on the nipple until around 2 months old. They weren't strong enough to suck right from the breast, so I pumped like a maniac untill they were strong enough.

Good luck!
