People can down-vote this all they want, but that post about the anti-pitbull prejudice had a pretty good point.

Pits are not inherently more aggressive than any other breed.

I think this is the biggest problem with your argument. Pits are inherently more aggressive than almost any other breed. They were literally bred to fight and kill other dogs, just like border collies were bred to herd sheep. Sure, you can find a border collie that has no interest in herding livestock, and you can find a pit without an inkling of dog aggression. But to say that they aren't inherently more aggressive is ignorant, and not helping the breed whatsoever.

Being a pit owner is genuinely more difficult because of the stigma: people are less friendly to you, places won't rent to you.

Are you unaware that you have a choice on what dog breed you purchase/adopt? If you're worried about people being friendly to you and your dog, why a pit? Why not a golden or another overly friendly dog? And don't even get me started on breed restrictions. A 5 second google search would show you that pits are on most banned breed lists. That's on you if you want to take on that burden while renting.

I'm willing to bet that a fairly significant percentage of you would never adopt a pit.

Nope, I wouldn't. Just not my breed. I'm a shepherd person, because that independent thinking, totally focused, play driven personality is what I look for in a dog. Pits just don't check all my boxes. And that's coming from someone with another "dangerous" breed, so I don't think it has to do with thinking pits are man eaters or anything.

I'm not saying it makes you a shitty person or anything

Oh good, because I was really worried about what kind of person you would think I am... Seriously?
