Joining or quitting. We don’t know each other. There are millions of people playing dota. People come and go all the time. It’s like a city having a reddit page and someone posting I’M MOVING! Sometimes they leave for years and search for better games but they still come back because Dota has a way of ruining other games due to Dota’s very high skill cap and accessibility. The challenge of being a competent Dota player is unparalleled. That’s why TI has always been the biggest esport event in the world. Dota has been instrumental in elevating competitive gaming into esports. The problem I’m addressing is that of random inconsequential people grandstanding to try and defame the greatest game of all time. Dota beat them into submission like many others before them who were content to quit quietly instead of having to draw attention to their quitting because that event is significant in their own lives but it has no bearing on Dota or the community at large. Dota community is made up of players but it isn’t so desperate for users that it’s going to beg people not to quit. You always had the freedom to quit just like you had the freedom to play. Why tarnish your own life or that of others for investing their time playing Dota? What makes you think anyone should care if you’re posting your big departure from a game you were anonymous in playing in the first place?

No one ever wanted you to play except yourself. You could’ve quit at 100 hours if you wanted to. But you didn’t. Now you’re 5000 hours in and hate your life so you try to warn others not to do the same even though their experience could be completely different from your own.

I thought that was self evident but I’m happy to explain further because I’m not fucking going anywhere. I’ll be right here reading about, playing, loathing and loving Dota for as long as I can. And if I ever stop playing, I won’t make it anyone else’s business because I don’t need validation from anonymous people to fuel my self worth.
