People that “forget to eat”, how are you able to ignore the sensation of hunger/hunger pangs?

When I was in elementary and middle school, I was always too lazy to pack lunch so I threw stuff together before running out the door and I always woke up too late to eat breakfast so I never did. So every day I basically just went hungry because I only ate about about 500 calories for a 14 hour period (From 10:00 p.m. when I ate dinner the night before to 12:00 p.m. when I ate lunch during school). I also didn’t really know what hunger pains were until high school. When I think back to elementary school, I realize now that the pain that made me feel like I was going to throw up every day was from not eating. Now I could probably just go a day or two without eating because either I am too lazy to eat or just forget and I don’t notice the pain anymore. The one positive from this is that I never have to worry about gaining weight because if I ever do, I can just lose it from not eating. I’m already on the lighter side but when the pandemic started, my structured schedule was thrown off and I lost 8 pounds in 2 moths from just not eating. Then I realized oh shit, I’m extremely under weight so I started eating more and gained back 12.
