This is such a great example that every country should follow

As a teacher I am constantly seeing my colleagues doing things to improve upon their skills, creating better student engagement, etc. that they don’t get paid for. Teachers spend hours and hours that they don’t get paid for doing work that helps their students. Teachers spend their own money on classrooms. They stay late to help struggling students. They dress up as super heroes or other fun costumes to engage students during online learning. They research and ask their fellow colleagues how to things better all the time.

And you also have colleagues that don't do ANY of that and do the bare minimum and do not put in any extra work at all and simply show up to get a paycheck.

And they get paid the same as you and your colleagues who try harder.

And nobody has any real choice in whether they "luck out" and get a good teacher or an apathetic one.

And for your extra effort you earn no extra money.

Doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?

Why can't people compete for your better abilities and better results?

Why don't apathetic and bad teachers simply just lose their jobs because nobody wants their kid to be their students?

Are there some that don’t make much of an effort? Sure, and that’s true in any job

Not really. In any other service based industry, if you suck at your job you don't get any clients and you don't get paid.
