People Of Reddit: Who use the Causal Encounters on Craigslist- How was the experience?

More than 10 years ago I was having a period of way low self-esteem and I was having some wine and got on CL to get laid (I'm a woman). Some rando guy came over, we got down, he left. I drank more wine and got on CL again, found another rando guy who also came over and we got down too. Even if you offered me a million dollars I could not come up with either of their first names (much less their last).

I thought I was being "safe" because I called a friend and told her what was going on and told her I'd call her afterward. Which I totally did. But she had a lock on blackmail material for months because I left her a voicemail wherein I puked while it was recording. "Hi, it's me, I'm okaaabbbllllllllerrrrrrhhhhhhggghhh...

...

Ahm FINE..gg'nigh..."

Couple of things wrong with this.

First, never, ever, EVER have people come to your place. This is a great way to get beaten, robbed and left for dead.

Second, even if you meet in a public place, never, ever EVER meet people to have rando sex when you're drunk. The kind of discernment you need for a new partner is impaired when you've been drinking. Your guard is down, you're in no way able to judge the trustworthiness of this new person. This is a great way to wake up dead.

Third, even if you meet in a public place, and you're sober at the time, never ever EVER have sex with new people when you're wasted. So don't decide to have sex with this person and then proceed to get drunk. This is a great way to work yourself into a situation where you can't say 'no', or your guard is down far enough that you won't say no, or you're not processing clearly so you simply don't catch all the signs pointing you to saying no. A great way to wake up with HIV, syphillis, gonorrhea, genital warts, herpes, chlamydia, a UTI, yeast infection, lost condom, or a baby.

I could go on, but I won't. Suffice to say I was lucky. Really, really lucky. People have been raped and murdered after less risky behavior.
