I’m from an abstinence only country/culture as in premarital sex is very taboo, even almost illegal (there was a law about this almost passed a couple years ago). My school was a strict Christian school. Our sex ed was separated between boys and girls. Girls learned about periods, nothing controversial around it. Then they showed us a video of a woman giving birth, without telling us what it was beforehand. Literally put us in this room and played a video with POV right at the woman’s vagina, already crowning. So it was a bloody mess that most of us didn’t realize until the head was further out. It freaked us the hell out. And then the teacher just said “that’s a grown woman. Imagine a small teenager having to do that” to warn us against pregnancy.

I heard the boys only got told how to use condoms. Their session was less scary so they asked more questions about sex itself. Us girls were horrified by the video and just wanted to get out of there.
