Syrians continue to demonstrate in northern Syria against the Assad regime and its allies.

In the 1920s, women in Central Asia, such as in Uzbekistan, literally burned their veils and became unshackled from the barbaric, oppressive system of social relations that dominated their society. Veiling of women might have been understandable a long time ago, but it simply is not okay today.

The veil for women is a unique sign of backwardness and depravity of certain societies. It often is associated with female seclusion, and veiling is proof of inherent antagonism towards women. Women are prohibited from speaking to men who aren't their relatives. The necessity for women's liberation through removal of veils is of big importance for creating new, modern societies.
