People who quit your job to start your own business. How did that work out for you? [Serious]

I went from a sales representative position for a building & construction and contracting equipment wholesaler / manufacturer. I started my own business whilst doing that. Moved onto working for a company that sold shit for cranes and pre-cast concrete consumables supply. Then I went into industrial / civil pump & piping systems / engineering, again, while building up my own bizz. I started with nothing, and had to build my way up you see. I then stopped working for others and secured sub-contract work through councils and developers to build roads and new infrastructure. My body began to get sore doing alot of manual labour and lifting heavy stuff for years, so I applied all the skills Id learnt over the decades in large & small business, and remodeled my existing business to electronics wholesale & retail. No, I did not have a plan.
