People who will not be voting for PAP this time around, what was the breaking point for you?

I liked Dr Paul Tambyah and I think he will do very well in parliament, especially in scrutinising the covid-19 response. Besides that, the one thing which made me like go “that is really not right” was the elected presidency issue. The very fact that they can change who the first (true) elected president was, to fit their own political agenda boggled my mind. On top of that, watching the debates in parliament, the WP are truly outnumbered and it’s quite depressing seeing all 80 PAP MPs ganging up on them just because they hold a different view. The PAP does not have all the answers, and robust debate is very important. Getting 70% of the vote made them too arrogant and complacent. I think no one wants an opposition government. We just want a PAP Govt which is accountable and transparent.

Side note: I don’t agree with most of the SDP’s economic policies like their new taxes and GST suspension, but I remember that they campaigned for GST exemption on basic necessities like rice, electricity and water. I definitely support that change to the GST system.
