Perfectly Symmetrical Suburbs are horror film material

Not necessarily. I know a lot of anti work, or at least anti career, people who would consider home ownership and living around a community a kind of "Defeat." They usually tell themselves they want to experience "City living" or "Rural living" but they're usually either just renting an apartment they can't afford in an awful neighborhood or living in some completely unmaintained house in the middle of nowhere- Hell sometimes the worst of both worlds.

I get that not everyone likes suburbs, or maybe just conformity in general, but to call it "literally hell" makes me think that whoever's describing it that way genuinely can't conceive of the advantages that come with it or the reasons they're so popular. I mean sure maybe they're just so far ahead of the game that living like middle class Americans seems awful, but that's so extremely rare that I imagine we're not really seeing it on Reddit that often.
