Players need to care about each other, not just themselves.

Just to address one small part of this:

TBF, even if you weren't new to the game, you couldn't have expected that result since in Pathfinder 1E rules-as-written, that isn't what happens when one bag of holding is put inside another. The only major "problematic" interaction between extradimensional spaces is if there is a bag of holding and a portable hole (a specific type of object which is different from a bag of holding). Short of that particular interaction, the inner bag would just become inaccessible, per the rules in the bottomost section of this page.
