The Political Reason Behind Monotheism?

It is interesting that everything you have written is about India specifically whan I was talking about all of asia.

If you honestly think that the only time anti-homosexuality has been linked with religon in india over the many many centuries of hinduism is because of the British values being imported, then I think you need to do more research.

Absolutely there were times in the past pre british empire when homosexuality has been accepted in india. In nearly EVERY culture in the world, the level of acceptance goes up and down through the ages, and corresponds with political social and economic changes, levels of religions belief, which denominations and schools of thought were prevalent and in ascendence, who was in power and so on and so on.

Take the chip off your shoulder, British colonialism may have been the source of many evils in India, but the continent has been quite capable of covering the full range of positive and negative social perspectives and levels of religious tolerance AND intolerance through its long history.

Clearly you have taken my observations as a personal affront against your national pride, because you had not one bit of care about the status of the rest of asia in your reply, despite this being quite clearly what I was addressing.

At the end of the day, ALL religions have a scale from loving and kind to dogmatic and cult like, and followers, groups, times vary between where they are on this scale. The issue all religions have, is that they discourage critical thinking and encourage conformity without question, often conformity to powerful leaders, or powerful manipulative doctrines. All religions are susceptible to this at some times, and the best approach for humanity to take is to try to move forward in a way which is about education and understanding and freedom to think and question and learn away from arbitrary rules and superstition.

Religion has a lot of worthwhile philosophical ideas, and a lot of great and wonderful narrative and many beautiful and meaningful writings, and these are important things to learn about, preserve and encourage. "Spirituality" for want of a better word, is a worthy pursuit, however, when it crosses the line into dogmas, and accepting these works of fiction as actually being literally real, it becomes harmful to human beings becoming the best, kindest and wisest they can be.
