To the poorest kid in a private school - what's your story?

As someone from a non-rich family who got sent to an expensive grammar school, this is my time to shine!

I got there by being given a grant and having my fees paid, for doing exceptionally well in a state (free) primary school.
I hated it. Hated hated hated hated hated hated hated it.

None of my friends were there, they all went to free secondary schools.
I had to take three buses to get to school, and people made fun of me for having shit clothes and no mobile phone...

My parents would never let me leave, so I failed exams on purpose in an attempt to get kicked out and left as soon as I was old enough to, without completing my leaving certificate.
That caused a massive row between me and my parents and led to me moving out of home far earlier than I was ready to, and enduring years of shitty relationships and drink problems, all while alienating my family.

Things are much better now, and I get on well with my family now, but that really came close to sending me off the rails.
