Postdoc

I hate to say it, but because there are a lot of what American labs perceive as weak PhDs from India, you may be being written off because of that inherent bias. If you're a guy I've heard more than one American PI complain about "Arrogant Brown guys who think they know everything."

One of the things I've noticed when it comes to applicants from India, is that they add a lot of fluff and laundry lists of skills and protocols they've done rather than providing some sort of clear narrative of their general skills, the problems they have worked on and would like to work on, and what their value to the lab they're applying to is. It seems to be a difference in academic cultures.
