Potentially unpopular opinion: The epilogue was not exactly necessary and I feel like the end of the series would have been just fine without it

Which is what pisses me off about Cursed Child. I interpreted "19 years later" to basically be a long winded version of the "and they lived happily ever after" fairytale cliche, which I actually appreciated. So many series have kept on going despite having multiple oppurtunities to end the series on a satisfying note (see Star Wars and any popular TV show not called "Breaking Bad"). Rowling had an ending, and she committed to that ending. She made it clear that there would be no more Harry Potter books. Then we got Cursed Child, which just cheapened the ending that she'd been planning for 17 years. I know that it was saccrine and poorly written, but it was comforting to know that Harry got a happy life... He definitely deserved it after 10 years of abuse from the Dursleys and his 7 incredibly difficult years at Hogwarts. He almost died during exams every single year, and for many of those years he watched someone he cared about die. The poor kid probably had mega-PTSD by the time Deathly Hallows is over. He deserves a vacation, and I hate how Cursed Child decided to cheapen the "happily ever after" just because Rowling wanted to add another room to her mansion.
