Potholes.

Why do these threads always bring out the, “Well achkchewly we don’t pay road tax..”

We pay taxes that should pay for roads to be in an operational state; it is clear that the gripe is that we pay a portion of our income (tax), to fund the roads that we commute on.

Is this ambiguous? Do you think that OP lives in the past days of ancient Road Tax, and that OPs grievance will be alleviated when it is pointed out that ‘Road Tax’ is no longer a thing? Oh, good! I was of the understanding our taxes should be maintaining our roads! But we don’t pay Road Tax!

I don’t understand why people are so intent on being pedantic about this particular semantic issue. Detracts entirely from the issue.
