Took a self defense class ages ago, and one of the points they drove home was to never get on your phone if you’re alone, you’re not looking at your surroundings as much, and focused on who you’re talking to. (Who isn’t present at all if you need help) If you have to make a call, lock yourself in your car first, or stay within a crowded area.

You’re more likely to get attacked if you look like you can be caught off guard. I don’t know what criminals would actually give tips on their “skills” but they had statistics of victims, and reports of the criminals who did the assaulting, and being on your cell is a big “come attack me” flag. Glad you’re safe! I was very pregnant in a similar situation and I really couldn’t have done much to defend myself.
