Why do private dentists give a completely different service to NHS dentists?

I work at a dental school and all I can say is all dentists trained in this country whether private or NHS are trained by the NHS, like all professionals some are better than others but all have to complete the same components and pass to graduate. There is no guarantee that by going to a Private dentist you are seeing someone that is more competent than an NHS dentist, the only guarantee is that they will be able to spend more time with you than someone that only provides an NHS service and be able to use more expensive materials in your treatment. Many GDP’s return to the NHS hospitals to receive postgraduate specialist training if they want to specialise in a certain area Endodontics/Oral rehabilitation etc. We have many overseas postgraduate students come to this country to train because our training standard is so high.
