I am sorry for your experience. When I was at u of c, I had a similar retaliatory reaction from a prof. They were the head of the psychology faculty, and a tenured prof for the uni. They made a statement about medical technology and its availability, their conclusion was "Edmonton has this piece of medical/research technology, and Calgary doesn't... Another reason why Edmonton is the better city."

Thing is my mother was part of the team (leader) that brought that technology to the province, that had started the pilot program at the foothills and had gotten Calgary and Edmonton these devices. So I was very aware that what she said was completely false and unfounded.

Being a young student I didn't think first, I stood up and explained how she was wrong, why I knew she was wrong, and how she should research her opinions before making them facts.... Well she asked me for my name, I proudly gave it to her... And within a week I was transfered to another class, that class overlapped another one of my classes so I had to get it dropped and refunded by my academic advisor.

I left the u of c a year later and finished my degree somewhere else, the arrogance of a facility that let's its professors act like that was a place I wanted no part of.
