PSA: M2 Mac mini can indeed output to dual displays over a single Thunderbolt cable, when paired with a Thunderbolt Dock capable of two displays.

It didn't pick up all of the displays right away upon setup, but plugging and replugging the DP cable sorted itself out

Update: It seems like this is a reoccurring issue that happens when waking up from sleep (or powering on). (Not sure if this is Apple or CalDigit's to blame but external display support on macOS has been spotty at best for the longest time soooo ...)

  1. M2 mini only detects single DisplayPort display upon boot
  2. then I have to (physically) disconnect the DP cable from my display, only after that it detects USB-C (Thunderbolt 3 downstream) display
  3. and finally then I can connect DP cable again, and both displays are now detected

I'm gonna try throwing BetterDisplay at this mess and make an update on how it went.
