Psychotherapists of reddit: what most commonly holds people back from being a healthy/happy person?

Your hobby is altered reality. That is not a hobby, that is escapism. One day you will realize, where your life has gone. All those levels, all those achievments. You could've leveled up your own damn life, and achieved some real things. Think about it. What if you spent all that time writing, or painting, or playing an instrument, or FUCKING EXERCISING. You would have something to show for it; music, a book, artworks, a sexy physique.

Get stoned, and do some real things. I'm sick of seeing my generation waste their lives on god damn Call of Duty and Halo (Ten years have gone by, and they're still playing new versions OF THE SAME FUCKING GAME). At the bar last month, i was talking to this chick; she said "my life is video games" when I asked what she liked to do. She had no answer, but video games. What a fucking waste. I traded my Xbox for weed, years ago and i'm never going back.

I've had real experiences that pale in comparison to any video game. I've seen schools of wild salmon swimming in rivers. I've been within 5 feet of a wild coyote. I've shot real guns, at actual things. One day, I ran into a rally car race. Literally, I was walking in the woods on a dirt road, and came across an actual rally car race. That was a really awesome experience. Not to mention, the parties and festivals i've attended. You ever seen people dancing with fire? One time we built a massive teeter-totter over a creek.

Then there's all that cool stuff i've just found. Like in a game or something, when you come across an object, and add it to your inventory. Beautiful, gem quality agates, deer antlers, working appliances, tools, knives, all sorts of stuff. Those things you found in your game, are imaginary. You don't get to keep them, they are worthless.

All of my buddies who were sitting at home playing Xbox; THEY MISSED OUT ON ALL OF THESE FUN ADVENTURES. THEY TRADED THEIR TIME AND MONEY FOR ADVENTURES IN MOTHERFUCKING FANTASY LAND.

I was alone, and i'm glad i didn't try to drag any of my gamer friends with me. It would've been a waste of my time.
