Public Hearing tonight (Weds 3/29) at Brookdale for citizens to voice their concerns over JCP&L's high-power electrical lines proposed along the train tracks in Monmouth County - click for more info

These things are going to be huge (150-200ft tall), visible over the tree line and have been known to cause cancer.

This will impact property values in the area.

Apparently almost none of our local service outages come from these transmission lines, but with the smaller distribution lines.

They would have to clear a wider track of trees from the area around the tracks for this project which will make the train louder, and in some cases removing all trees between people's homes and the train. I don't even want to imagine the delays that would result from this project.

I'm usually not a "not in my back yard!" type person but it really seems that JCPL doesn't have a very good reason for installing these except that it's the cheapest option because they require less maintainance. The benefit is for JCPL and not the thousands of people who's wallets and health this may impact.

Just passing it the information I have, because my mother is very upset over this. No one can upset my mother but me!@
