It’s not about oil. If it was sanctions wouldn’t have been added to Russia in the first place. Russia is a first world nation destroying its neighbor for power. They are booming cities, killing civilians, killing kids and planning a full absorption of Ukraine while threatening the world with nukes if anyone helps.

Saudi Arabia’s actions were deplorable, but not an existential threat to the world and Europe as a whole. They brutally killed a man for his freedom of speech, which is terrible, but it’s not on the same scale as surrounding a city, bombing it, and forcing people to die of dehydration, freezing to death, hunger, bullets, bombs, or soon to be chemical weapons. The Saudis didn’t just enter Iraq and decide, “This land was always Saudi Arabia and there for we will commit a mass genocide unless you agree to be annexed.”

Russia is a major producer of oil and natural gas. If this was all just about resources they wouldn’t be sanctioned.
