A question about appearances?

So, a couple of months ago a friend made a bet with me, the bet was that Batman would be appearing in the Wonder Woman film, it didn't matter if he appeared as Bruce Wayne or Batman as well as whether he appeared young or old, Batman just had to appear in the film. My friend made this bet as he had read rumours that Batman would be appearing in the film. The bet was in place and the months whittled away until the film finally came out but we couldn’t watch it immediately. Seeing as I wanted to find out whether Batman appears in the film or not, I looked it up online (managed to avoid spoilers) and it turns out that Batman doesn't make an appearance, I told my friend and naturally he also looked into it and conceded that Batman doesn't make an appearance. Today we finally got to watch the film and DC Comics have adopted a Marvel like approach to the opening of their films, I found a copy of this opening online https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWhjtKMqHn0 Now based on the wording of the bet, you would naturally expect Batman to have a role in the film, some kind of interaction with the characters no matter how miniscule that interaction is, does appearing in the opening sequence, a sequence that will subsequently be played in future DC films, count as him appearing based on the wording of the bet as well as interpretation? The two of us have basically bickered about this, neither of us wishing to concede that the other is right, as well as this we’ll be asking three friends to act as adjudicators and decide which one of us is right once the film is out to buy, until then the bet has been placed on hold. Until that time comes though, I want to know what you think? Bearing in mind, when deciding between you and another person that a certain character will make an appearance in a film, what sort of appearance would you expect? Would you count that or not?
