A question about Attributes

Most games compute skills as "skill + attribute" in some form or another. It's meant to represent personal aptitude + training.

A system without attributes would mean that the character's personal traits somehow don't apply, so they could be AMAZING at one skill, yet potentially be 100% incompetent in a seemingly related skill. Combat abilities where they can kick a car through a wall, yet no lifting skill so they can't pick up an empty can.

The number of skills doesn't really matter much; you could have the exact same skill list lifted from any other game. The issue you end up with is explaining why someone who can lift the moon can also only do 1 damage or whatever when they hit someone.
