Question about winning tournaments

A tournament is a community event (and yes, also a business) and an implicit part of that is showcasing the winners, taking pictures for promotional purposes, and promoting the event in general. If you want to "win some money", that money actually has to come from somewhere, it isn't grown on trees or donated by the government to reward great fighting game players. In most cases it comes from other players fees, from sponsors, and of course, the event hosts make that money possible through by organizing the event. Those who win the tournament are among the biggest benefactors of this. It is common sense that you pay back all of that effort by presenting yourself at the awards ceremony and acknowledging it in that (tiny) way.

OK.. so, u do ur part. U pay the Evo fee to enter in it. Play the game, have fun, put on a show for the crowd, shake hands and thank the TO's (and maybe others if they've helped in anyway) and take ur rewards and go home. Again, what's the problem?

It has almost nothing to do with "respecting ones privacy". Everything in the world doesn't revolve around you. When you want something from others, you have to give something back.

Absolutely, but what more do people want? I'm not saying u go and tell the TO's to go and fuck themselves after they give u ur reward and high tail it outta there but I'm just asking what's wrong with not wanting to be apart of that whole show? What if ur not sponsored either? Like I said, ur there to play the game and not there for the fame. You've done ur part, uve paid it fees to get in, uve put on a show for the crowd and for the sake of this situation well just say u were super respectful to everyone u interacted with during the tournament.

So, what's the issue? What makes u "disrespectful-socially-retarded-autist"?
