r/Michigan COVID-19 Megathread [05-07-2020]

As of now? Yes, I would (were it possible) though a month or two ago I was firmly in the pro-quarantine camp. The difference now is that the curve has been flattened and we’re much better prepared regionally and nationally then we were when the shutdown order was first announced. Additionally, since beginning to follow the news around Covid, I’ve come to believe that it’s a virtual certainty that within the next 12-24 months every human being on earth is going to be exposed to Coronavirus, no exceptions. In other words, unless we want to wait years to reopen, we’re doing nothing but delaying the inevitable and at a terrible, terrible cost economically. Every death caused by the virus is tragic, but even more so are all the lives being destroyed due to job loses and general economic starvation. I for one would rather face Covid-19 now, with a job (and by proxy, good healthcare) vs catch it a year from now while unemployed and broke.
