r/NBA believes "Dwight Howard is gonna end up as one of the most underrated players ever because Kobe/Laker fans hating on him people always forget how dominant he was"

I would agree that Dwight is a better defender. There is no denying that.

But comparing both at their primes, Bynum is definitely better in my eyes. I may be a bit biased, but I don't think my arguments too far-fetched. Obviously Dwight has been a more consistent player, but again, comparing them at their primes as centers.

The rebounds stat is a bit of a weak argument. Typical case of picking and choosing stats. The lack of Bynums rebounds is likely due to:

1) Sharing rebounds with two other 7 footers in Gasol and Odom, versus Dwight playing as a solo big man most of his career. Bynum was typically the third option on offensive behind Kobe and Pau, whereas Dwight is usually option 1 or 2.

2) First two years of his careers, Bynum saw a much lower playing time (7 min, 21 min) compared to Dwight averaging who is over 32 MPG each season, except for 2014/15 in Houston. The years Bynum was actually playing 25+ minutes, he had broken 10 RPG or have gotten really close (8-9). I'm sure he can secure one more RPG if he had the same amount of play time as Dwight.

Bynum's offensive game was way more polished than Dwight's. Dwight needs to stick to a DeAndre Jordan type role, but refuses to do so. He has absolutely zero touch around the rim, weak passing ability, and only 1 post move. If Bynum stayed healthy, there is no doubt he would have surpassed Dwight. Among the injuries, alleged cocaine use, and Dora the explorer haircut, I feel like many people forget how skilled Bynum actually was.
