as someone with a humanities degree, the breadth of knowledge and ability to communicate complicated ideas is a great foundation. but i also know you need to layer ontop of that specific training for business or technical skills.

i don't need a political science major to write python scripts or who has no financial literacy, no matter how strong the social activism extra curricular credentials are.

to be clear, this is relatively close to entry level. i'm not expecting 5-10 years of software engineering experience with a comp sci degree. we'd interview even if there was demonstrated knowledge through side projects and maybe a certification and/or after hours course.
