Ragnarok was awesome but let's show some love for the first and second movies as well

Honestly, I think Ragnarok, and like all of Phase 3 for that matter, have kind of done the opposite and made me retroactively dislike the first two, but I’ll get back to that. On its own, Ragnarok acts like a soft reboot that, yes, is strengthened by the other two, but at the same time, they do basic things with Thor himself as a character (there was a reason why Hemsworth was bored playing him until now and why Taika went in going “he’ll be the best character) while Loki gets all the development. It’s more akin to how Aquaman and WW84 act as soft reboots for those characters in an attempt to remove the Snyder-isms.

As for some of the other Phase 3 installments:

Black Panther develops Wakanda and it’s people far better than both Thor’s ever did with Asgard. They didn’t put T’Challa in Oakland for 90 minutes hanging out with the Proud Family, for one. They had him rule.

Captain Marvel handles the human elements a lot better than the first two ever did, like the Rambeaus are worth a shit, and Carol goes cross country in the film, whereas Thor’s human friends are the equivalent of the majority of the human cast in the new Godzilla film, and they stick him in the desert for most of the runtime.
