First, I hide behind a bush.
I watch as people walk and jog by. When only one adult male jogger is around I jump out and punch him in the face as hard as I can. He cringes, holds his jaw, and says "What the fuck?"
I punch him hard again with my other hand. His nose is bleeding a lot but he's not knocked out. I say, "Just give me your fucking clothes now or I'll kill you." I give him the "crazy eyes" intense stare. He strips down to his boxers.
Now clothed, poorly, I try to figure out how to alert the authorities about the 9/11 attack. Nobody will know where the FBI offices are. So I ask everyone I see where the nearest police station is. Everyone ignores me or says they don't know.
So I go looking for a police station. I run. The enormity of the situation washes over me. My own life is nothing compared to the importance of saving thousands of people.
I get tired quickly, thanks beer belly. But I continue to jog, looking for police, despite my exhaustion and back pain. Thirty minutes later I finally find a cop.
Shit, now what do I say? I should have thought of this ahead of time.
"I have hard evidence of a major terrorist attack that will happen this week. I have to tell police and FBI."
The officer gives me a really funny look. He says, "Sir, are you alright? This is not a joke. Don't lie to me."
I say, "I am NOT joking. You have to listen to me. I ran here as soon as I realized what's going to happen. Hundreds of people could die." I say hundreds thinking that thousands would make me sound even more outlandish than I already do.
He talks to his buddy cop quietly. Then he says, "Alright get in the car let's go down to the station."
At the station
Outline: I consider demanding the FBI be present before saying anything, but realize that if I can get the cops on board then the report to the FBI will be a police report, not just some guy.
So I tell the police that I have information that a massive terrorist attack will occur around 9:00 on September 11. I say the terrorist group responsible is called Al Qaeda. There are 19 hijackers that will hijack 4 airplanes with 4-5 of them in each. The planes will leave from Boston or New York. I can't remember which or what their numbers are except that United Flight 93 that departs on the morning of September 11 will be hijacked over Pennsylvania and diverted south with the intention of hitting the U.S. Capitol Building. The other three planes targets are both World Trade center buildings and the Pentagon. The ringleader is named Mohammed Atta. He somewhat recently met up with other hijackers in Las Vegas. There was a 20th hijacker who for some reason has been kicked off of the project, Zacharious Mousaoui. I can't spell his name. After a while I remember Ramzi Binalsheeb. I can't spell his name either.
I tell them that around 15 of the hijackers are Saudi. I forget to mention anything about boxcutters. I remember that Khaleed Sheik Mohammed was the mastermind behind the plan. Osama bin Laden supported and financed it, with .]
I remember that Masoud (I think?), the loved leader of the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan, was assassinated in Afghanistan on September 10th and tell them he will be assassinated on Sept 9th or 10th by the Taliban because I'm not 100% sure it was on the 10th.
As I beg to talk to someone from the FBI, they bring someone in. I tell the same story. He invites me to the NY FBI headquarters.
I tell the same story. I add that the plan is to completely demolish both World Trade Center buildings as they've had engineers do the math and estimate that a 747 impact would cause the towers to collapse.
Now I start to think maybe I shouldn't have told them about Flight 93. The heroism on that flight would show the world not to give in to hijackers ever again. But that wouldn't work if they hadn't heard of the attacks while still on the plane. I'd have to either stop the attacks or not.
At the FBI headquarters I ask to use a computer while I wait to check my email. I then search for a pretty generic NSA email address and email them the story. I do the same for the CIA, White House, my congressman, my Senators,
I carefully talk like someone that knows about the plan, not someone from the future.
