Rant.

This kind of stuff has been going on for years. My horror story was when I was a freshman and wanted to try to get into a different major than the one I ended up settling on, but because I had something like 30+ AP units, they were threatening to basically kick me / block my registration unless I declared a major after my first year (2002/2003), which was miserable enough to begin with due to a really shitty roommate situation that resulted in a number of psychological issues on my part. Depression/anxiety, they stole my stuff, used the race card to get out of their really horrendous behavior, blamed everything that went wrong or they got called out on on me... and the RA went along with it, if you must ask.

I wanted to go to a CC to pick up the credits I needed to declare the major I wanted (CS), recollect myself, and/or transfer, but I basically got told by my folks to just pick something because it didn't matter what I studied as long as I got the Cal degree and that unless I finished my degree at Cal they wouldn't pay for anything, help, or cosign any loans. I finally got a CS degree later from the OSU Post-bacc program, but I basically wasted several years of my life trying to make the ridiculously underwhelming liberal arts degree and education I got from Cal work. I still hate Cal to this day because of that nonsense and refuse to give them any money.
